I watched “Cruising” for the first time last night. I don’t know how it took me so long. Maybe it’s because it’s not the sort of film they put on every night on ITV. I liked it, and it’s obviously iconic in a lot of ways - inspiring many pastiches. It’s a decent thriller / murder mystery - but I couldn’t help but feel like there was a more interesting story in there. I think the idea of a straight police officer having to go undercover as a gay man & then getting sucked into the supercharged S&M scene is much more fascinating and I’d liked to have seen a bit more of that. There is a good fisting scene though!
