So, Roisin put out her statement - which confirmed that it was her who made that comment about trans kids on Facebook. If you’d like to read it for full context, it’s here. Anyway, I don’t have any desire to go through it surgically and break down the points or whatever (there barely are any). The gist of the thing is - she says it’s good to have changing opinions, she never signed up for this debate & she’s bowing out. I have to say, it’s pretty flipping weak. I never thought I’d be describing the Moloko frontwoman as a keyboard warrior but there you go - she can’t stand behind the courage of her own convictions, and when her true identity is exposed and she’s questioned in the sunlight - she runs away. Something that trans people all across the world don’t have the ability to do.
