30/07/22 - I Am The Oxford Imp
Tomorrow I go to Edinburgh for my first full run of my debut stand up hour “PEAK TRANS”. I’ve been to Edinburgh before, I actually did a short, four day run just after the lockdown last year - but this is the first time I’ve ever been in a position where it felt viable to do the full run. All I’ve ever really wanted to do since I started comedy was have a full show that I can perform every night, and see it take shape, and hopefully get better. Ironically though, now that I have that, all I want is to get on with writing another one. Obviously, that’s because this material has been a big part of my life for the past year - adapting it, extending it, editing it out. And the topic of the show is quite a “serious” one, and even though the actual show is nothing close to serious - that process of working through the themes and trying to find the funny bits in them, can at times be a bit overwhelming. I don’t know what my next hour will be about, but it won’t be trans issues, that’s for sure.
