Every time I look at a newspaper right now, JK Rowling’s goofy-ass face is there in some article about her opinions on transgender people, or how she might not support the Labour Party if they don’t kowtow to her demands on the gender recognition act. And then, sure enough, there’ll be some think piece, or podcast interview with some goofy as hell ‘national treasure’ about how JK Rowling is actually just ‘misunderstood’ and needs to be given the ‘benefit of the doubt’ because she wrote some goofy-ass book for goofy-ass kids.
She doesn’t need ‘more time’ to come around. If there’s one thing trans people are good at, it’s research. We’ve had our eyes on this goofy woman ever since her first ‘senior moment’ (her words, not ours). We can smell out a vile, vindictive bully from a mile off and I’m tired of placating the apparent cognitive dissonance and delusion among goofy-ass public figures who feel conflicted on ‘the issue’ just because their goofy-ass kids love The Prisoner of Azkaban.
JK Rowling has apparently said that she’ll meet with Labour after Rachel Reeves said the party would “give her assurances” over its plans to change the process through which people can legally change gender. This is so goofy. Here’s a wild idea – how about Labour develop a backbone for once and try siding with the marginalized group. How about they have the slightest bit of integrity, rather than virtue signal to some goofy-ass, overrated children’s author who hasn’t even put out a good book in years, and if anything is more of a franchising tycoon at this point. How about give us some assurances for once?
Labour yet again is proving that it is a party more concerned with buddying up to potential wealthy donors than it is one to actually take a stand on a pertinent issue. The idea that someone with such a proven track record of ill-informed, goofy transphobia like JK Rowling could be worthy of Keir Starmer’s “respect” is honestly nauseating to me. Keir Starmer is a goofy guy.
It’s also telling that Rowling seems to have a conflicted desire to hang on to her reputation as a Labour supporter. It obviously means something to her, to be associated. But if you’re going to form an allegiance with nasty, snidey, goofy little groups like Keep Prisons Single Sex, Lesbian Labour, Women’s Rights Network, Women’s Place UK and the goofiest of all goofies – The LGB Alliance, then at a certain point, you’re simply going to lose the ability to posture as a progressive anymore.
Maybe it’d just be better for everyone if Rowling could be a bit truer to herself and accept what she has become – someone who has a lot more in common with the conservative party (or better yet, even more right-wing groups). Just live your truth Joanne – it'll be easier for you, and you’ll get to spend more time with the goofy-ass weirdos who more closely share your views. You can start your own party? The Goofy-Ass Party of Goofballs?
